Abstract

This article will discuss Zakat and taxes from an advantageous perspective. Zakat and taxes are two obligations that must be carried out by Muslims in Indonesia. This tax is charged to every citizen who should pay taxes, which are at first glance looks very contradicted to Islamic teachings. In Islamic teachings, groups of people are obliged to spend a small portion of their assets as Zakat, namely those who have been categorized as capable persons already having had Nishab to give Zakat. By conducting literature studies and a descriptive analysis approach, it is found that Zakat contains the hope of obtaining blessings, cleansing the soul, cultivating it with various virtues, and fostering cleanliness and benefits on the assets owned. Tax and Zakat possess the same purpose namely a source of funds to create a just and prosperous society by sustaining equitability between material and spiritual needs. Taxes are used to finance activities in the fields and sectors of development. The distribution of Zakat to Mustahik, especially the poor and needy people, is expected to support their economic life to help national economic growth.

Abstract

This article describes the process and meaning of the reconstruction of Manguni, as the sacred bird in the old Minahasa religion which became a symbol of Gereja Masehi Injili in Minahasa (GMIM) in the context of colonialism. In particular, that thing to be discussed is the reconstruction of meaning, from Manguni as a mythological belief to Manguni as an ecclesiastical symbolic motive that carries a message of nationalism. Since the early of 20th century, the historical context and discourse of the Minahasa Christian intellectuals have been the subject of research to trace the development of Christian nationalism (in) Minahasa. In the context of GMIM, the interesting things are constituted as the dialogues and debates in colonial church forums, namely the Indische Kerk delivered by Christian leaders. This articles shows that, as a reaction to colonialism whic has changed many things predominantly in Christan Minahasa society, nationalism has grown and developed uniquely through discourse of community elites and church leaders. The expression of nationalism is through political and ecclesiastical path, which both of them use the legacy of religious tradition as tool of negotiation, namely the symbol of the institution with the motive of Manguni bird.

Abstract

Da'wah is not only done through social media such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube. However, preaching is done through free applications that are familiar today. This article tries to specifically examine the Umma Application as a medium for da'wah for young people who are developing significantly. The purpose of this article is to understand and dig deeper into the dakwah process carried out by young figures by uploading da'wah content from religious figures such as Ustad Abdul Somad, Ust Adi Hidayat, Aa Gym, and other figures in the umma application. The method used by researchers in this article is a descriptive qualitative method with the Teun A Van Dijk model of discourse analysis technique, to analyze the religious content it conveys. The results of this study indicate that digital da'wah has a great influence on people's attitudes, perspectives, and behavior with an audio-visual da'wah model. Umma is a da'wah application that has a large enough user among young people creating a new virtual space to access knowledge. Da'wah through the umma application certainly has a major influence on the behavior, attitudes, and points of view of young people when watching videos and reading the uploaded images as a process of proselytizing in the umma application.

Abstract

The clash between religious-based groups, including problems with places of worship and deterrence of national Muslim leaders, has highly escalated in North Sulawesi. This is inversely proportional to the branding of North Sulawesi, especially Manado as a tolerant city. The public spotlight certainly leads to leadership at the regional level. Currently, the provincial government under the leadership of Olly Dondokambey, in terms of policy matters, is not very visible and has not been implemented, taking sides on diversity issues like what President Jokowi poured in Nawacita, which was revealed in many policies. In this article, the author notes that in many instances the government was less involved in the process of resolving clashes between groups. This article is written with a phenomenological approach, reveals cases, and analyzes them. The conclusion in this article is in the form of a recommendation to strengthen the regional vision and mission in favor of the issue of diversity.

Abstract

This research aims to show the results of the issuance of Law No. 16 of 2019 and the increasing application for marriage dispensation at the Kotamobagu PA. Underage marriage is a common thing in society. Many things are a factor in underage marriage, one of which is pregnancy outside of marriage and is considered to approve the proposed marriage dispensation. This research is field research located in PA Kotamobagu. The results obtained are that although the issuance of Law Number 16 of 2019, cases of underage marriages are even increasing. This case is evidenced in PA Kotamobagu. In 2020 the application for marriage dispensation was higher than the previous year. One of the reasons for submitting a marriage dispensation made by the community is a pregnant woman out of wedlock, so the judge must approve the proposed marriage dispensation. In other words, this law has no impact on suppressing the number of underage marriages, and the increased age limit has increased the dispensation for marriage.
